Firefighters in Pine Mountain kept busy during the Christmas Season,
but not as a result of emergency calls.
In fact, the number of emergency calls was down as compared to
previous years but firefighters were kept busy in a number of
Christmas-related activities.
The season began in November with Light Up Pine Mountain. During the
celebration, Pine Mountain Mayor Joey Teel officially lit the town’s
Christmas Tree. The Pine Mountain Fire Department delivered Santa
Claus to the event, to the delight of children and adults.
On Saturday, December 3, Pine Mountain firefighters participated in
three parades. The first parade took place in Pine Mountain with
Santa Claus riding on top of Quint 1201. Later that evening, Quint
1201 participated in the Hamilton Christmas Parade while Sparky the
Fire Dog and Squad 12 were featured in the Manchester Christmas
Parade.
The final Christmas event took place on evening of Christmas Eve.
For the 15th year, Pine Mountain firefighters towed Santa and his
sleigh along every street in town with firefighters distributing
candy canes to all the children that came out to see Santa.
With his reindeer preparing for their long trip, Santa’s sleigh was
towed around town by Pine Mountain Fire Department’s Ranger unit
with Squad 12 and Engine 1202 trailing.
Though a busy season, the Christmas season is always a fun time for
Pine Mountain’s firefighters. |
