The Pine Mountain Fire Department held another successful BBQ on
Saturday, May 29.
For nearly two decades, the department has held a BBQ on Memorial
Day weekend to coincide with the holiday and the Masters Water Ski
and Wakeboard tournament held at Callaway Gardens.
Under the direction and invaluable assistance of Terry Love,
firefighters began cooking the pork butts on Friday evening and they
slowly cooked until 7 a.m. Saturday when they were removed from the
cooker.
Firefighters began serving the BBQ about 10:30 Saturday morning at
Askew Park and by 2 p.m. the BBQ was sold out.
As in previous years, the Pine Mountain Fire Department did not
charge for plates. Instead, the plates of BBQ were given away and
donations were cheerfully accepted. And once again area residents
and visitors were very, very generous.
The annual Memorial Day BBQ is the department’s largest fund-raiser
of the year.
In addition to selling BBQ plates, Pine Mountain and Hopewell fire
apparatus and other equipment was on display in the park. |
