Operation Santa Claus Brings Joy to Town

More pictures HERE

The Pine Mountain Fire Department spent part of the evening of Christmas Eve escorting Santa Claus in the city.

Twelve years ago, former Pine Mountain Fire Chief Mitt Smith started the holiday program, during which Santa is transported along every street in the city. While Santa does not stop, firefighters distribute candy canes and pencils to area children.

Operation Santa Claus had become an anticipated event in Pine Mountain with families gathering and children looking forward to seeing Santa.

Christmas Eve visitors to the area can often been seen making video recordings of Santa as he passes by.

During the 12 years of the event, Santa has been known to stop and visit on tour buses of senior citizens and take time with handicapped children.

For Pine Mountain firefighters, the event has become another way of giving back to the community which has been very supportive of the volunteer fire department.
